October Apple Harvest

October Apple Harvest
Here in the Hood River Valley, we progress through the seasons following the fruit harvests – strawberries in June, cherries in July, blueberries in August, pears in September, and the grand finale of bountiful apples in October. Friends and neighbors are constantly gathering to pick, process and preserve the latest harvest. I love having this connection with our community and the land… and I love sharing it with our son. This collage is a tribute to this cycle and a common scene in our area. Adults picking and chatting while little ones fill their bellies. Messages incorporated into this image say “connect with the wild soul”, “the earth we have in common,” “most sustainable choice”, “nature”, and “ancient roots”.
