Step Up.

Step Up.

Hello my sweet friends. I hope this post finds you well into the transition into the restorative, reflective time that is fall. Here in the mountains we have already had our first tastes of winter with snow falling earlier that we've ever experienced. We've spent more days indoors by the fire and bundled up to go outside to hike through a colorful palette of slippery leaves in a drippy forest. In many ways, the speed of life seems to slow down a bit and we reconnect with the rhythm of the natural world. But lately, I've been feeling like we need a bit more... Honoring our connection to each other and the natural world is the driving force of my artwork.
Honoring connection is central to my business, my art, and my life.
It is my mission. I feel so inspired by the message inherent in that connection - "We are all in this together." It fuels my fire. And from what I see and hear around me lately, others feel it too. When I walk in nature and listen I hear much more than leaves crunching or the warning calls of birds. I feel a deep, fundamental, kindred spirit - a oneness. It may seem hokey, but I know you know what I'm talking about. Anyone who has spent time in nature - looking into a beloved pet's eyes, or watching birds fly in formation, or listening to a campfire, or watching a river flow - you've felt it too. And I feel a strong pull to remind others of this innate belonging to one another. We get caught up in our own stuff and easily slip away from one another and the earth. We get into these petty stories of "us" and "them" and forget that we are all made of the same stuff. We forget that it is a miracle that we're here in the first place. That we live on a shared planet - a planet in space - that is infinitely connected to the universe. We belong to one another. And that voice is lost in all of it. THAT message is not the one on the news. So I feel compelled to step up and put it out there. And I invite you to join me in your own way. Art is my chosen medium for doing so. This idea is the theme for the 2018 wall calendar. This year’s calendar is not only about mutual respect for the common threads that unite us, but also honoring the strength that comes from our rich diversity, and the unique gifts that every living thing brings to our world. With the holiday season upon us, we have lots of opportunities to share a reminder of our connections to each other through our words, our actions and our gifts. If you're looking for meaningful gifts this season, please consider sharing the gift of this message through art prints, cards or a year of reminders in a 2018 wall calendar. I'm offering a wide range of simple, seasonal greeting cards featuring images that focus on family, nature and connection. They're blank inside, and like all of my products, are printed on 100% post-consumer recycled paper. It's what I would want to send to you and my loved ones, so I hope they resonate with you as well. **While I work on updating my shop, I'm directing folks to make purchases through my Etsy shop.
Sets of holiday greeting cards available here.
I'd like to leave you with some amazing music by beautiful women of the band, Rising Appalachia - singing the message for you...
