Let Your Love Grow

Happy {almost} Valentine's Day, friends! I've been getting my DIY fix this week, helping our little man do his very first set of Valentines for daycare friends. One of the highlights was that he insisted on making a Valentine for himself too. (That's my boy!) Creating lots of little love notes with him has been so fun and given me time to ponder all the ways we can interpret this little holiday. I came across this beautiful John Lennon quote on love which totally resonated with me...

"There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.” -John Lennon

That pretty much says it all, huh? When you live fully and openly - you give others permission to do the same. This starts with self love. Some of the most inspiring and influential people in my art and life have lived this way. So this Valentine's Day, let's plant some seeds for love to grow... and weed out the fear.

Go ahead - Make some bold, creative messes. Bust out your crayons and make a home-made Valentine (or two) for those you love.
