Paper: A Tribute and Love Story

Paper: A Tribute and Love Story

There has long been another love in my life. My husband has accepted this fact, though he readily admits that he doesn't quite understand it. I have often been known to hide away and spend hours alone with this long-time love of mine. I adore it all - looks, feel, versatility and more. I admit it. I'm madly and deeply in love with paper. I make nearly all of my art from re-purposed paper (junk mail, magazines, packaging, etc.). I collect and send cards, write handwritten letters, save wrapping paper, spend hours combing through my collections, make my own, journal on it, make books and more. Yes, the gals at the stationary shop in town know me by name. It's a passion and I wouldn't have it any other way. So when I read about the PaperLove Blog Hop, I knew I had to partake. In fact, I made a short video tribute to my paper lust... (This is my first little foray into the world of video making. It was a labor of love, so I'd be really grateful if you'd hang in there while it loads! If you have any troubles, try following this link.) The last two images in the video are pieces that I made using just paper - no paint. It has been a fun challenge for me to create images from only the colors, textures, bits and pieces that I am able to find in my paper stash. It's like a scavenger hunt every time! I'm curious, what do you love about paper? Please share in the comments below! So happy to get to partake in this papery celebration and delighted to support the good folks over at Do What You Love. I encourage you to hop on to see how the other participants are putting their smooch on paper today. Just check out the list of links below...
