Letting Go of Good for Amazing

Hello friends –  I’m going to just get right down to business in this post.  I am on fire lately and I really want to share some thoughts with you.  I’m thinking about the value of taking a step back, reevaluating, and then digging into the hard work of sifting.  I could be talking about your closet or the junk drawer, but then again, I could be talking about your life… or mine.

2018 – A Year Devoted to Intuition

Happy New Year!  Here we are… 2018.  Holy moly.  What can I say?  I’ve been taking some time to reflect on all that 2017 brought about – unexpected inspiration, staying open, and quite literally rising from the ashes.  And I am feeling hopeful in a new way about what we’ll be able to bring forward during the year ahead

Step Up.

Step Up.

Hello my sweet friends.  I hope this post finds you well into the transition into the restorative, reflective time that is fall.  Here in the mountains we have already had our first tastes of winter with snow falling earlier that we’ve ever experienced.  We’ve spent more days indoors by the fire and bundled up to go outside to hike through a colorful palette of slippery leaves in a drippy forest.  In many ways, the speed of life seems to slow down a bit and we reconnect with the rhythm of the natural world.  But lately, I’ve been feeling like we need a bit more… (more…)

Humility, Strength and Creativity Arise from the Ashes

It seems that everywhere we turn, humans are being humbled by Mother Nature lately.  We’ve been reminded of just how much we take for granted a safe place to live, clean water to drink, roads to drive on, stocked grocery stores, clean air to breathe, and the safety net of stability that these amenities provide us.  Stripped of these amenities we feel wobbly, uncertain, and anxious about what will come next.  Here in our mountain home, we have been seriously humbled by a wildfire that is dangerously close to our home and the homes of many of our dear friends.  (more…)

Check it out! New Art!

Friends!   Today’s the day!  I am beyond excited to finally get to share the latest artwork that I’ve been working on this spring and early summer.  There are 12 new pieces and they are all included in my 2018 calendar which is also hot off the presses!  This post will be a teaser of sorts and over the next several months I’ll continue to spotlight different images, what inspired them, and how I hope they will inspire you.  But for now… onto the teasing!  Without further ado…

Savoring the Sweet and the Sour of Summer

Savoring the Sweet and the Sour of Summer

Hello friends…
It has been a while. Summer days are here again and time has been passing faster than ever. I’ve been trying to soak it all in as much as possible. Lately, I’ve been paying particular attention to my attitude towards the sweet verses the “sour” moments. I want to stay open to it all. After all, life is filled with both and its richness comes from the contrast of it all – those moments that have both the sweet and the sour all mixed together. And in keeping with that effort this post is a simple stream of sweet and sour moments, gratitudes of sorts. I hope you can relate and enjoy the “and-both-ness” of it all. (more…)

This one goes out to the papas

This one goes out to the papas

Hello friends – and especially all the papas out there.  This weekend is Father’s Day and I’d like to take a moment to send some love out to all the dads.  One of our papa friends used to joke with us that both Mother’s and Father’s days were holidays dreamed up by clever mamas.  His logic went something like this – on Mother’s Day all the dads are expected to take the kids to give the moms a break and then on Father’s Day, dads are given the “opportunity” to take the kids so they can spend time enjoying their fatherhood.  I always got a good laugh out of this because in a lot of circles it really is true.  And I know plenty of mamas out there who would argue that it is totally legit to give the papas any and all extra time with the kids.  While I know that some dad stereotypes may have some validity, I just gotta take this moment to say, that’s not the reality I see in my world.  (more…)

Mama Don’t Play That Game Anymore

Hello friends,

Wow.  Can you believe spring has finally arrived?  I know. I know.  In some parts of the world, spring has been here for months… You may even be thinking more summery thoughts by now.  But here in the mountains, spring has just arrived, and boy am I ever glad she’s here.  I love the renewal of life, new beginnings and fresh energy.  But, if you’re anything like me, you have to check yourself when you feel the burst of spring energy.  Often, the hustle of spring cleaning, house projects, outdoor activities, birthday parties, lessons, and team sports can leave you wound up and wiped out in short order.  That’s why this mama is trying out a new motto…

Five Ways to Foster Meaningful Connections in Your Life

Hello friends,

With the divisive tone of our political climate, the endless winter weather here in the Pacific Northwest, and the lack of togetherness generated by way too much time in front of a screen – I’m craving some connection!  In case any of you are feeling the same way, I thought I would do a little brainstorming on ways to foster connection as a simple reminder for us all.   I hope you find it helpful!   So let’s dive in, shall we?
